Musician

Professional musicians normally do not have high salaries and most are without job security. Musicians need extensive training to excel in their craft and play at the professional level. Training may come from an accomplished musician or from a music college. Musicians and singers held 186,400 jobs in 2008. 50% of them where self employed. Being a Musician is a very demanding job, with a very small percentage excelling in this job field. The growth rate and job opportunities are increasing at about the national average.

Teacher

Teachers not at the University level do not have that high of a salary, on average earning about 50,000 dollars per year. The higher they are educated the more they will earn. Teachers require good social skills and be willing to do work outside of their actual paid hours. (i.e. grading papers) Kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and secondary school teachers, held about 3.5 million jobs in 2008. Employment rates are expected to rise at the national average.

Bus driver

There are two primary types of bus drivers. The first type is transit and intercity bus drives which transport within a state or drive buses on charted tours. The second type of bus driver is a school bus driver, which takes children to and from school and drives kids on school related trips. In 2008 35% of bus drivers in the US worked part time. There are few job requirements. A bus driver only needs a clean driving record and an active commercial driving license, however a high school diploma is recommended. In 2008 bus drivers held 647,500 jobs. 70% of the bus drivers worked for schools and other similar systems. Bus drivers are expected to grow by 7 percent between 2008 and 2018.



Anesthesiologist

Anesthesiologists are in charge of a patient’s heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure and making sure they are asleep while during surgery. Anesthesiologists administer drugs that provide pain relief. They give drugs to those who suffer chronic pain and woman delivering a baby. Anesthesiologists require 6-8 years of training. The average income is $339,738 a year.

Family Physicians

Family Physicians are who the patients talk to first for basic care and for any health concerns. They are like the jack of all trade doctor, being required to diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of conditions. They normally have long term patients, if a serious condition arises then they refer the patient to a specialist of other health care facility. Family Physicians require at least 6 years of training. In 2008 physicians and surgeons held 661,400 jobs. The average income is $186,044 a year.

Psychiatrists

A psychiatrists is the primary doctor for the mentally ill. They diagnose and treat the patients illness through medication psychotherapy and hospitalization among other methods. Psychiatrists helps find solutions, often changing a patients behavioral patterns and learning about the patients past history. To be a psychiatrist you must go through around 8 years of training. The median income is $339,738 a year.

Lawyer

A lawyer provides legal representation to a client for a fee. Lawyers must have flexible hours and an above par work ethic. In order to become a lawyer you must partake in 7 years in school and pass a bar exam. While there may be a lot of school involved in this profession the rewards are equally high, with lawyers making $110,590 on average. Lawyers often have paralegals working under them, which do the labor intensive research and paper work involved with representing clients in court.

Electrician

While qualifying to be an electrician does not require as much time as a lawyer or doctor it still requires 4 years of apprenticeship. An electrician deals with wires and electric units. In order to be paid a higher annual wage they must have a broader skill set, often coming from on site learning. The pay rate for an electrician can be anywhere between $13.54 per hour to $38.18 per hour, with the average earnings at $22.32 per hour.

Plumber

A plumber is one of the highest paid jobs in the construction industry. In order to become a plumber one must have a plumber licence. A plumber lays pipe and fix problems that arise from normal use among other things. A plumber on average makes $21.94 per hour.

Construction Worker

To be a construction worker one needs very basic education and only a simple understanding of tools. Job learning happens on-site. While the annual wages are not very high job availability is above the national average because of the labor intensive nature of the work. The average wage per hour is $13.71.
